The Wrecking:Best of 2008

Considering the dismal state of the economy, the year 2008 was certainly not the best for most people. However, for the Wrecking, this past year allowed them to flourish as musical artists and become recognized. The band was honored with mentions on a number of Best of 2008 lists, including the lists of www.christianmusic.about.com, www.blog.beliefnet.com, www.jesusfreakhideout.com, Newbury Comics and Labor Day Music. These lists had wonderful things to say about the Wrecking; www.jesusfreakhideout.com reports that the band "possesses a distinctive sound all their own", and www.blog.beliefnet.com writes that "a lot of times I see acts that are playing music as a career choice, which is fine. And then I meet bands that are playing because, if they didn't, they'd be disobedient to God. That's what I get from The Wrecking, and that attitude comes out in their music." This is only the beginning of the recognition for the Wrecking; 2009 has begun, and it will surely be their year to shine.

"It's About Time" you got The Shock of Pleasure you need...

With their delicately grooving beats, sparse melodies, and ethereal vocals, Shock of Pleasure brings a heightened sense of satisfaction to a far-reaching fan base beyond that of your typical 'electronica' band. Their debut album, It's About Time (re-released 08.12.08), is clean and optimistic with a hypnotic and somewhat addictive quality to it. Robert Romano, Kelley Christian, Brent Irish, and Josh Curry created a record of 'grown-up' music with a fresh, young spin on the electronic sound. Something about it sounds really familiar, and then again, something about it sounds really new and unheard of. Shock of Pleasure is exploding onto radio airwaves and fulfilling fantasies with dance remixes pumping through the speakers of clubs across the country. Get your fix at www.shockofpleasure.com and keep your eyes, ears, and bodies open for the Shock of Pleasure to come to you.
PRINCE'S BACK-UP SINGER GOES GOSPEL

Gospel Billboard chart-topper Niyoki has recently released her sophomore album entitled Rest, which encourages listeners to do just that along with her. The former Prince back-up singer and new mom beautifully conveys the comfort of being at peace with her life both emotionally and spiritually. Niyoki draws inspiration from her faith and comes from a religious background as the daughter of a Reverend. The Nashville resident attributes much of her early influence to older gospel artists that she would open for as a child and member of her family's traveling band "The White Family". Although she has previously had success in the music industry as a back-up singer, Niyoki's experience was anything but restful. Becoming a solo artist has allowed her to express herself with a new level of maturity, and share her message of peace with others while truly enjoying the things that are most important to her- faith and family.
DAN EVANS TAKES CONTROL OF HIS LIFE AND REACHES FOR THE STARS
Since childhood, we have been encouraged not to size up our worth according to physical appearance. However, what happens if how you look on the outside affects how you feel on the inside? A career in music is based on self-expression, yet the 310-pound frame of young musician Dan Evans was preventing him from feeling comfortable in his own skin; he felt like he couldn't show who he really was. Weight loss is a daunting feat, but Evans was up to the challenge. The 21-year-old singer from Frankfort, Illinois decided to change his life on season 5 of the popular show, "The Biggest Loser". After losing 136 pounds and capturing the hearts of Americans everywhere, Evans is now ready to share his music with the world. His accomplishment on the show demonstrates his role as an inspiration to viewers, and listeners can look forward to hearing what he has to say through his music. After all, there is now nothing standing in his way.

Surf's Up with the Dirty Heads!
These Hip Hop Misfits hail straight from Orange County's community of Huntington Beach. The Dirty Heads highly anticipated first full-length album, Any Port in the Storm (September 2008), has a unique sound reminiscent of the up-beat, laid back, sun-soaked Southern California lifestyle. Their blend of hip hop and reggae is clearly inspired by the rock and reggae sounds of Bob Marley, Sublime, 311, and the Beastie Boys, but the resulting sound stands tall and is distinctly Dirty Heads.
Their bold beats, fun rhythms, and relaxed vibe of feel-good lyrics are featured in the movie soundtrack for Surf's Up (Sony 2007) and were hand selected by actor, and fan, Matthew McConaughey for his upcoming film Surfer Dude. You can also catch the Dirty Heads representing their passion for skating and surfing on Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam video game (Activision 2007) and several other music compilations and surf/skate videos.
The fun and uncomplicated style of the Dirty Heads is best summed up by lead vocalist Jared Watson when he says “ We just want to make you feel good So check out The Dirty Heads at www.dirtyheads.com and feel good with Jared Watson, Dustin Bushnell, Jon Olazabal, and Matt Ochoa when their tour stops in a city near you.
